Contact: Steve Wilson, ext. 245What do companies pay electrical engineers in central New Jersey? What's the statewide average salary for construction workers? What was the average wage increase for hourly employees in 2002?
The answer to these and hundreds of other questions can be found in the 2002-2003 NJBIA Compensation Report, one of the most complete industry-wide guides to salaries and wages paid by New Jersey companies.
Published every two years by the New Jersey Business & Industry Association, the report is compiled from a detailed survey of hundreds of New Jersey companies reporting data for more than 25,000 employees. The report is available for $95 plus New Jersey sales tax for NJBIA members and $200 plus tax for nonmembers.
"This report provides companies with a valuable tool for deciding how they should compensate their employees," said NJBIA Vice President Michele Glassburg. "We don't use computer models or statistical estimates. The information contained in this report is derived from the actual salaries and wages paid by New Jersey employers."
The report details information for over 200 job classifications in 12 job families. The job families are accounting and financial; purchasing; office, clerical and administrative; information systems and data processing; engineering and scientific research; human resources and personnel; manufacturing, management and supervisory; manufacturing, printing, warehouse, distribution and maintenance; marketing, sales and services; insurance and banking; construction; and social services and medical.
Among the statistical categories are extreme ranges and weighted averages; regional geographic breakdowns; comparisons by industry and company size; wage and salary increases for 2001 and 2002; pay-practice analysis highlighting bonuses and salary structure; and starting salaries for college graduates.
