McGreevey Says No to Gas Tax Increase, Calls for Greater Savings, Efficiencies at NJBIA's Public Policy Forum 
Governor James E. McGreevey chose NJBIA's Public Policy Forum on December 9 to announce his opposition to increasing the gas tax and asked the Department of Transportation to find savings and increase efficiencies to meet the state's transportation needs. Senator Leonard Lance Receives NJBIA's Troast Award at Public Policy Forum 
State Senator Leonard Lance, co-chair of the Senate Labor Committee and incoming Republican Leader, received NJBIA's 2003 Paul L. Troast Award for his efforts in promoting productive workplaces and economic growth and development in New Jersey. NJBIA President Philip Kirschner and Board of Trustees Member John Troast, son of the late Paul Troast, presented the award during the Association's 2003 Public Policy Forum at the Sheraton at Woodbridge Place in Iselin. Business Outlook Survey
Business Confidence Strengthens in 2004 as Recession Worries Fade 
NJBIA member companies are somewhat more optimistic in their economic outlook as they head into 2004, but they are feeling less happy with the state's business climate. The cost of providing employee health benefits soard by 15 percent for New Jersey employers last year, NJBIA President Philip Kirschner told a room full of business and state house reporters.
