companies to receive a 2006 Outstanding Employer Award from NJBIA. It was one of only nine companies overall receiving the Association’s Award for Excellence in four categories.
“Our Awards for Excellence winners have had a notably positive impact on the lives of their employees, their communities, the environment, and New Jersey,” said NJBIA President Philip Kirschner, who presented the awards October 17 at a dinner at the Hilton East Brunswick.
“Cooper is committed to excellence in patient care and easing the job of its employees in accomplishing that goal,” Kirschner said. “Cooper achieves high marks when it comes to raising the level of job satisfaction and employee pride.”
With its commitment to excellence in patient care, Cooper is currently the leading university hospital system serving southern New Jersey and the Delaware Valley. The hospital is recognized for excellence in cardiology, cancer, critical care, trauma, orthopedics, and neurology. Some of its success can be directly linked to Cooper’s recognition that an enhanced quality of life for its employees leads to superior job performance.
This recognition was demonstrated in October 2005 when Cooper University Hospital initiated a unique program called Errand Solutions. The errand-running and concierge service is designed to help employees complete their personal chores without wasting valuable work time. More than 3,000 employees can now take advantage of the program at the main hospital in Camden, the Voorhees outpatient center, and the Cherry Hill offices. Cooper was the first health care provider on the East Coast to provide this benefit to its employees.
Since 1984, NJBIA annually has honored a select group of its members with an Award for Excellence. The winners demonstrate outstanding achievements in one of four award categories: Environmental Quality, Outstanding Employer, Enterprise and Public Service. All 23,000 NJBIA member companies in good standing are eligible to be nominated.
An independent panel of judges volunteered their time to conduct the judging and select the winners. Mercadien P.C. Certified Public Accountants of Princeton verified the information supplied by the winning applicants.
With more than 23,000 members, NJBIA is the nation’s largest state-level employer association.
