On Thursday, October 27, A- 1952 legislation to protect businesses and all consumers from “surprise” out-of-network medical bills and healthcare costs will be considered by the Assembly Appropriations Committee.

Solving the problem of out-of-network costs is one of NJBIA’s top priorities because the cost of providing employee health benefits is the most significant challenge facing New Jersey employers today.  Out-of-network costs play an increasingly important role in the rising cost of healthcare for both large and small employers in New Jersey, triggering both higher premiums and out of pocket expenses.

We recognize that some in the healthcare provider community continue to have concerns with this legislation, and that there are many different sides to the issue.  In trying to balance the interest of all our members, NJBIA has supported out-of-network reform for many years because of the direct impact it will have on healthcare costs.
