Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Mercer and Burlington Counties invites the community to attend the Red Shoe Gala on Saturday evening, March 24 in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. While providing guests with a fabulous evening of great music, silent auction and dining, the Red Shoe Gala also serves as an important fundraising event for a noble and worthy cause.
The Red Shoe Gala theme is reminiscent of the American classic “The Wizard of Oz.” Guests are encouraged to wear red shoes or boots that symbolize Dorothy’s journey through Oz. As in “The Wizard of Oz,” the characters of the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and Scarecrow each play a role in getting Dorothy home safely. CASA helps to ensure that the determination of where that home will be is going to be safe and nurturing for the child.
The night will be one full of joy and entertainment for all. The evening will begin with a social hour featuring appetizers and cocktails. A silent auction will feature some fabulous gift baskets and sports memorabilia, and a variety of “Red Shoe Contests” will be held with several prizes donated by local businesses. The evening will feature the great music by the tremendously popular Franklin Alison Band.
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Children of Mercer and Burlington Counties has been providing child advocacy services since December 2000. CASA trains adult volunteers to become volunteer advocates for abused and neglected children while they are in out-of-home placement. The trained volunteers are the consistent presence in a child’s life and relay factual findings to a judge in efforts to find a best solution for that child. CASA’s mission is to promote and protect the best interests of abused and neglected children during the months it takes for the Court to determine a placement in a safe and permanent home.
If you care about kids, plan to attend CASA’s Red Shoe Gala on Saturday, March 24, beginning at 6:00pm at the Cobblestone Creek Country Club (formerly Greenacres Country Club) in Lawrenceville, NJ. Tickets are $150 each and are available online: http://www.casamb.org. Please call CASA at 609-430-0050 for more information.
