The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC )resolved 99,109 charges in 2017 and recovered almost $400 million for complainants.

According to a report by Paul Patten of Jackson Lewis, EEOC received a total of 84,254 new charges in 2017. Nearly half of the new charges were for retaliation-based claims—firing, demoting or harassing an individual for either filing a complaint or participating in a discrimination proceeding.  They were followed by discrimination cases based on race, disability, sex and age, in that order.
