Affordable Employee Training Exclusively for NJBIA Members LEARN MORE

The Healthcare Division of the New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII), an NJIT corporation, will be hosting its second pop-up health clinic to provide basic healthcare screenings and education at Barringer High School, 90 Parker Street, Newark, NJ (next to Branch Brook Park, near the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart) on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

NJII hosted its first free pop up health clinic in Newark this April as a way of reaching out to underserved communities. The clinic screens for height, weight, blood pressure and glucose level. It also provides information and referrals to services that help with housing and domestic violence. Representatives from Aetna and the nonprofit Kindersmile Foundation will be on hand to answer questions about insurance and dental care. Finally, those attendees that meet certain need-based qualifications will be provided a free cell phone they can keep.

“NJII is based in Newark, and these clinics are one way we give back to the community we call home,” said Tomas Gregorio, senior vice president of NJII’s Healthcare Division.

Pop-up clinic attendees will be invited to follow up on their health stats using MiQlave, a secure, blockchain-enabled, smartphone application developed by NJII Healthcare Innovation Solutions. This free app lets users record and track their baseline health statistics and safely share them with clinicians, when needed.
