With the pace of innovation rapidly accelerating, New Jersey must provide real economic opportunities for residents by supporting and creating pathways for everyone to acquire the skills and education that will help them secure rewarding careers.

NJ Legislature’s New Bipartisan “Manufacturing Caucus” Explores How to Retool and Grow State’s $40B Manufacturing Industry John Reitmeyer of NJ Spotlight reports that a group of state lawmakers in the midst of evaluating New Jersey policies related to the manufacturing industry got a crash course on Sept. 19 on how technology – from robotics and automation to biotech and chemical engineering – is reshaping a sector that used to dominate the state’s economy.
NJEDA Board Action Encourages Growth in Advanced Manufacturing; Food Industry Companies to Create Jobs, Invest in Distressed Communities Projects approved on Sept. 14 by the Board of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) will add to momentum already underway in the State’s advanced manufacturing sector. Grow New Jersey (Grow NJ) tax credits will encourage two food manufacturers to locate in New Jersey, where combined, they would create more than 150 new jobs and drive more than $15.4 million in private investment.
NJ Innovation Institute Among SSTI’s 2017 Honorees for Outstanding Initiatives Driving Regional Prosperity, Innovation From teaching high school students in rural western Kentucky how to become entrepreneurs to connecting entrepreneurs with a worldwide network of partners in a virtual hub, organizations are finding innovative ways to build regional prosperity. Four outstanding examples were recognized Sept. 14 by the State Science & Technology Institute (SSTI), a national organization working to strengthen initiatives to create a better future through science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Thomas Edison University Renames Newest Building George A. Pruitt Hall in Honor of Soon-to-Retire President Thomas Edison State University has unveiled building signage designating Glen Cairn Hall as George A. Pruitt Hall in honor of Dr. Pruitt, who will retire as the University’s president at year’s end. In June, the University announced Pruitt’s decision to step down as president at the end of 2017. The University is conducting a national search to find its next president.
