NJBIA member Morey’s Piers in Wildwood has been honored as the 2019 Park of the Year by Amusement Today magazine.

Will B. Morey, director of Water Park Operations and third-generation family member, accepted the Golden Ticket Award on behalf of Morey’s Piers at the awards ceremony held earlier this month at the Silverwood Theme Park in Idaho.

“Morey’s Piers stands as a one-of-a-kind example of how an amusement facility can become synonymous with a community,” said Gary Slade, publisher of Amusement Today.

“As we recognize great achievements at the Golden Ticket Awards each year, the Publisher’s Pick allows me to bring attention to things that are really special in the amusement industry,” Slade said. “Morey’s Piers is just that — completely special. The piers have helped define Wildwood and in turn become an integral part of the summer beach vacation.

“The Morey’s team stands as a leader for many parks to look up to and has for 50 years,” Slade said.

The Morey family has operated its classic seaside boardwalk amusement park since 1969.  It now includes more than 100 rides and attractions that span 18 acres along six beach blocks, including three amusement parks and two beachfront waterparks.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary this year, Morey’s Piers unveiled its newest ride, The Runaway Tram. The family-friendly roller coaster, which cost $4 million, is one train with 10 two-person passenger cars that climbs 40 feet before coasting, twisting and turning riders along 922 feet of track.
