Twelve New Jersey companies, including six NJBIA members, were named to Forbes’ first Best Employers for Women list.

Cognizant, based in Teaneck, was ranked No. 74 on the list of 300. Other honorees included NJBIA members Johnson & Johnson, Coldwell Banker, Novo Nordisk, Becton Dickinson, Unilever and Verizon Communications; and Volvo Group, Ascena Retail Group, TD Bank, Chubb and Verisk Analytics.

“New Jersey is home to great corporate citizens and we should be extremely proud of all of these companies for their inclusiveness and diversity,” said NJBIA President and CEO Michele Siekerka. “The importance of women in the workplace cannot be overstated and these companies are leading the way for supporting, advancing and empowering women in business. NJBIA applauds these honorees.”

Forbes, along with market research company Statista, determined rankings by surveying 40,000 anonymous respondents, including 25,000 women, working for businesses with more than 1,000 employees.
