The New Jersey Business & Industry Association today came out in support of legislation to promote greater use of electric vehicles in New Jersey after several changes were made to the bill.

“As amended, this bill represents a sensible approach to promoting electric vehicle use and reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” said NJBIA Vice President for Government Affairs Ray Cantor. “The state would make a substantial commitment to support the purchase of electric vehicles while protecting ratepayers and consumers from excessive costs.

“The bill sponsors and legislative leaders are to be commended for fashioning a compromise that will serve the state well over the long term,” Cantor added.

The bill, A-4819 (Benson, D-14; Pinkin, D-18), was released by the Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee and is scheduled for consideration in the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
