When it comes to compensating your employees, consider this: Salaried workers in the U.S. are happier about their jobs than their hourly wage counterparts.

That’s according to a recent analysis by Gallup.  When asked about their satisfaction with various aspects of their job, salaried workers were more likely to say they were completely satisfied with their pay and benefits and hourly workers were less content with intangibles such as job security, opportunities for promotion and being recognized for their accomplishments.

Among the differences, salaried workers were 12 percent more likely to be satisfied with the amount of money they earn (41 percent vs. 29 percent for hourly workers) and 15 percent more like to be satisfied with the amount of vacation time they receive (65 percent vs. 50 percent).

On the flip side, hourly workers were 6 percent more likely to be satisfied with the level of on-the-job stress and 4 percent more likely to be satisfied with the amount of work that is required of them.
