Affordable Employee Training Exclusively for NJBIA Members LEARN MORE

NJ Spotlight reports on the growing importance of business and academic partnerships to ensure that higher education and adult education programs fall in line with the needs and trends of industry jobs in New Jersey – particularly those in transportation, logistics and distribution, or TLD.

This week, the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development set a goal of getting 65 percent of the state’s adult population to have either a college degree or an employer-valued training certificate by 2025. Buoyed by the growing warehousing and storage subsector, more than 370,000 workers in the state have jobs in the TLD sector.

The state ismaking more than $8 million in grants available for the 2018 fiscal year to institutions seeking to become a designated “talent development center” in TLD, advanced manufacturing, construction and utilities, financial services, healthcare, life sciences and retail and hospitality.
