ExxonMobil has released its 2017 Sustainability Report, which evaluated key metrics within the sustainability issues for the business and stakeholders using IPIECA reporting guidance, feedback from external stakeholders, engagement with employees, benchmarking of peer company reports and media review

“The issues most critical to the success of our business and to stakeholder interests are covered,” the report says.

Highlights include:

·       Achieved lowest-ever record-able injury rate

·       Announced greenhouse gas reduction measures expected to lead to a 15 percent decrease in methane emissions and a 25 percent reduction in flaring by 2020

·       Spent $9 billion on lower-emissions energy solutions since 2000

·       Captured approximately 6.6 million metric tons of carbon dioxide for storage

·       Achieved a nearly 20 percent decline in net freshwater consumption since 2011

·       Contributed more than $200 million in programs and investments to communities around the world

·       Spent $1.9 billion with diverse suppliers in the United States and $186 million with women-owned and indigenous-owned businesses outside the United States

·       Expanded our university partnerships to further develop new technologies

·       Contributed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

·       Joined the Climate Leadership Council and Oil and Gas Climate Initiative
