One way to reduce healthcare costs without compromising the level of care is to cut down on the number of visits to the doctor’s office. With today’s high-tech communications, many healthcare consultations can be done remotely. And while it cannot replace face-to-face interaction between doctors and patients, telemedicine could save time and money for both the patient and the healthcare system.

As Lilo Stanton reports in this article for NJ Spotlight, lawmakers are trying to iron out the details of a bill that would regulate telemedicine in a way that will make its use more prevalent.

NJBIA supports the concept. The high cost of health insurance has long been the biggest challenge facing New Jersey employers, so they would welcome initiatives that could help to reduce costs.
