The Legislature is back in session.  Please find below a couple of updates, as well as bills posted for consideration in the Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee on Thursday, Nov. 14.

Senate and Assembly to Host Joint Roundtable Discussion on Mental Health & Youth, Nov. 12
Senators M. Teresa Ruiz and Joe Vitale, together with Assembly members Herb Conaway, Pamela Lampitt, Gabriela Mosquera, Shavonda Sumter and Annette Chaparro, will convene Tuesday for a roundtable discussion concerning mental health and youth.
Individuals with industry expertise spanning health and education have been invited to participate in the discussion and will be heard from regarding innovative practices, how to better identify mental health needs among New Jersey youth, what can be done to support schools in providing services to students and what funding opportunities currently exist.
The roundtable will be held Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m. in Room 103 of the State House Annex in Trenton. The discussion will not be open for live viewing, but a video will be made available on https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo1chL_L4kGu4ga3V0NNcfg after the conclusion of the session.
Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee Meeting
The Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee will meet on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. in Committee Room 11, 4th Floor, State House Annex, Trenton, NJ.
The following bills will be considered:
  • A-3178 (Conaway / Murphy / Vainieri Huttle) – Prohibits sale or distribution of flavored electronic smoking devices and related products.
  • A-4364 (Giblin / Caputo / Tucker) – Expands University Hospital board of directors membership from 11 to 13 members.
  • A-5922 (Conaway) – Revises requirements for sale of tobacco and vapor products; increases penalties for prohibited sales.
  • A-5923 (Conaway) – Revises licensure and operational requirements for vapor businesses; revises taxes imposed on vapor products.
